Have you lived with mental ill-health, either personally or through supporting a friend or family member? We want to learn from your experience. Tell us, and how we can improve how support services can work together to provide better care. Attend a Local Health Forum to share your thoughts and ideas in a collaborative session with other people with similar experiences. Support and social service providers are also welcome to contribute.

Who we are

South Western Sydney PHN is a not-for-profit health organisation funded by the Government aiming to improve health services delivered in the local government areas of Bankstown, Camden, Campbelltown, Fairfield, Liverpool, Wingecarribee and Wollondilly. One of the ways we do this is by identifying service gaps in our region and commissioning services to fill these service gaps through planning and consultation with health professionals and community members.

Local Health Forum focus

The focus of the upcoming Local Health Forum is mental health and suicide prevention.

We aim to better understand how people living in South Western Sydney access and engage with mental health services, the support people may need in accessing those services, and how we can improve services and coordination to best meet the needs of our community. These Local Health Forums are part of a bigger deep dive into mental health and suicide prevention being undertaken by South Western Sydney PHN.

Mental health is a term that describes how all people think, feel and act. It is a basic component of health and wellbeing that underpins our individual and collective abilities to make decisions, build relationships and shape the world we live in.

Why you should be involved

The information you share during the forums will help to:

  • Identify and understand the mental health needs of our community
  • Identify where we can improve existing services to better serve the community
  • Develop and implement future activities which will benefit our community

The Local Health Forum will contribute to a wider investigation of what’s working well, and not so well, across all aspects of mental health care within the South Western Sydney region.
